Affordable. Accessible. Austin.
Ryan knows what it means to be stretched thin by rising housing costs and a growing family. At the Capitol, he fought for our public schools. Now at City Hall, he's lowered housing costs and won’t rest until Austin is within reach for every family who calls it home.
About Ryan
Ryan knows what it means to be stretched thin — rising housing costs, a growing family, and a city that demands everything from the people who love it most.
A UT engineer and Harvard Law graduate, Ryan came to public service knowing how to solve hard problems. For years as a Capitol staffer, he was a tireless champion for our public schools and quality, affordable healthcare.
Now, at City Hall, Ryan has led on affordability — making Austin a place where families, students, retirees, and workers can actually stay. He's been a fierce advocate for getting unhoused neighbors off the streets and into permanent homes. And as lead sponsor of the Environmental Investment Plan, he's fought to protect the clean air, fresh water, and green spaces that make Austin worth fighting for.
Ryan was born at St. David's South and is still here. He lives in South Austin with his wife Rita and their three kids — Aurora, Atticus, and Alistair. If you see them on the trails, at the playground, or around the neighborhood, come say “Hi!"
